Today, we are proud to announce the successful completion of the Lucidworks Enterprise Developer Early Access Program.

During the last nine weeks, we’ve learned a ton from our 190 participants. The program participants have voiced their needs loudly and clearly about the features that were included or not included.  A big thank you for your feedback about multiple collections and query elevation! One thing that I’m proud to share with you, is that across the board, the overall feedback from our early access community was extremely positive, and Lucidworks Enterprise did in fact accelerate the development time of search applications.

Today, Lucidworks Enterprise is available for everyone to download. Lucidworks Enterprise is free for development, testing, evaluating and demonstration, but will require a support subscription agreement to be deployed in production.

What’s new in Lucidworks Enterprise 1.6:

Multiple collections support

Manage multiple Solr indexes, schemas and search UI via an easy-to-use admin UI. Each collection is treated as a stand alone, secured search engine, allowing you to develop, test and demo on the same instance, while sharing global settings, users and roles.

Query Elevation Component support

Configure the top results for a given query regardless of Lucidworks Enterprise relevancy scoring. Specific documents can be added or eliminated from the result set, allowing boosting of content based on the business needs (i.e. placement of product promotions, eliminating out of stock items, or improving search results)

Separation of Roles and Filters

As part of the multiple collections, Lucidworks Enterprise Roles and Filters are now defined with fine grain, to allow maximum flexibility per collection while allowing a centralized management of users and search roles.

Field collapsing / Result Grouping

Field Collapsing collapses a group of results with the same field value down to a single or fixed number of entries. You can collapse, for example, results based on source or site so only one or two entries are shown.

Result Grouping groups documents with a common field value into groups, returning the top documents per group, and the top groups based on what documents are in the groups. This is very useful for e-Commerce, showing the top X results for each category (Show the top 3 results for computer games in „Action,“ „Strategy,“ „Puzzles,“ etc).
